La Palma: The most NW-erly Canary island is a volcanic island rising 7,000m from the floor of the Atlantic Ocean. Its highest peak, the Roque de los Muchachos is 2,426m above sea level and on the N-ern end of the Caldera de Taburiente, a horseshoe shaped ring of volcanos forming the island. La Palma‘s capital S. Cruz is on the E-coast.
El HIerro: The farthest SW-erly Canary Island is a mountainous volcanic island forming a rugged and high coast line. Val Verde, the largest city is on the NE-ern plateau.
